Changes for the 2026 event

Here’s a brief overview of what’s changing in 2026:

1. Crisis cards are no longer singleton. Since rosters now need 5 of each type, there’s not enough crisis for us to limit these without having to make some odd rules around it. Additionally, the pick/ban system does a good job of addressing the issue singleton crisis was working on anyway, so we no longer feel like this is needed.

2. NO LUNCH BREAK. The mall itself has changed it operating hours, which means we have a much tighter schedule to follow on both days (see: Schedule). This means we will need to be very careful in following the schedule laid out to make sure we do not run over time. That said, there will still be some downtime between rounds, so bring some snacks!

3. New awards! To find new and different things to celebrate as part our event, we’re introducing new types of awards. There’s a brand new painting category for people with great ideas but maybe not the most technical skill. There’s now trophies given out to the team who best demonstrate their team spirit. Finally, like Second Wind, we’re getting rid of our podium prizes and only giving out trophies to the team that wins the event (so we have trophies to give to all the new categories).
